Specialization, innovation and unique skills: “Going up to the sky and entering the body”, PEEK opens up a new world

On the evening of September 17, Jiangsu Junhua Special Plastics landed on CCTV2 Channel Economic Information Network. The column of Specialization, Specialization, Newness and Unique Skills was broadcast. From aerospace to medical, polyetheretherketone interprets the new concept of plastics. Specialization, Specialization and Newness: The “Trump·Card” in the plastics industry can go up to the sky and enter the body. Use creativity to open up new horizons for new materials, walk at the forefront of the industry, and get involved in deeper fields. The “Trump·Card” in the plastics industry: PEEK   Polyetheretherketone, referred to as PEEK, is a kind of special engineering plastics with excellent mechanical properties, and has the characteristics of high temperature resistance (over 260℃), impact resistance, self-lubrication, flame retardancy, corrosion resistance, etc. Its downstream is mainly used in aerospace, medical equipment, electronic semiconductors, petrochemicals, new energy vehicles, machinery and other fields.   “Going to the sky” PEEK has been applied in new scenarios such as military industry and aerospace, promoting the development of high-end new material preparation technology in my country, and belongs to the upstream application end industrial chain. Based on the excellent comprehensive performance of PEEK, Junhua Special Plastics received a special order in 2012, a high-pressure seal on a carrier rocket. It looks small, but it is very difficult to develop. It took more than four years from receiving the task to mass production. Participating in the development of the Long March 5B carrier rocket project, all the efforts have been recognized, and Junhua has also made a contribution to the aerospace industry.   “Entering the body” – PEEK implanted in the human body to save thousands of lives The application scenarios of polyetheretherketone are not limited to this. In addition to going to the sky, it can also be implanted in the human body and used in the medical and health industry. During a study tour abroad, General Manager Li Jun saw the broad prospects of PEEK polyetheretherketone in the medical market. After returning to China, Junhua quickly organized a team to study medical implant-grade PEEK polyetheretherketone. In nearly eight years, it developed the AKSOPEEK® series of materials, breaking the monopoly of foreign countries in this field. At present, the price of foreign counterparts is about 18,000-20,000 yuan/KG. We have independently developed and produced medical implant-grade PEEK (polyetheretherketone). The sales price of one kilogram has been reduced a lot, which has obvious advantages. The picture shows a medical implant-grade PEEK (polyetheretherketone) skull piece being processed for neurosurgery. A 1-meter-long PEEK plate can process about 20 PEEK skull pieces, which can be used for the surgery of 20 patients with skull defects. Jiangsu Junhua Special Plastics Today, Junhua’s production layout has covered the entire upper, middle and lower industrial chain of polyetheretherketone, and its business is spread all over the world, but Junhua people have not stopped. In the future, we will continue to build a research and development and management team, focus on technological innovation, industrialized product lines, focus on the global market, promote industrial upgrading, and grow into a benchmark enterprise in the PEEK field. Li Jun, general manager of Jiangsu Junhua Special Engineering Plastic Products Co., Ltd., said: Only by doing it in depth can the company be competitive; Only by being competitive can our company survive.
