From April 25 to 27, 2023, the company will participate in JEC World 2023 (Paris, France), booth: Hall 6/T63, with the intention of recommending and promoting domestic continuous carbon fiber reinforced CF/PEEK composite prepregs, sheets, thick plates, winding tubes and products to manufacturers around the world. The French JEC Composites Exhibition showcases the new technologies and application achievements of the current world high-performance thermoplastic composites industry. Mature technologies and application cases make us aware of the gap in the development of composite materials with foreign countries. The road to domestic high-performance thermoplastic composites is long and arduous, and we need to work together to promote the rapid development of China’s CF/PEEK high-performance thermoplastic composites industry. Here, I will share with you what I have gained from JEC!
Case Study PEEK, PEKK, PPS and other high-performance resin-based thermoplastic composite materials and their applications 1. PEEK, PEKK, PPS and other thermoplastic prepregs Thermoplastic prepregs are thermoplastic composite materials with high strength, high toughness and recyclability, which are formed by thermoplastic resin as the matrix and continuous fiber as the reinforcing material. They are important basic materials for manufacturing thermoplastic composite parts and can be used in aerospace, shipbuilding and other industrial fields, as well as some transportation fields. At present, the main high-performance thermoplastic resin matrices are PEEK, PEKK, PPS, PEI and so on.

Continuous carbon fiber thermoplastic printing filaments Continuous carbon fiber thermoplastic filaments have advantages that metal filaments cannot match due to their excellent mechanical strength, low density, corrosion resistance and fatigue resistance, and high design customization. With the important advanced technology of 3D printing, it is a strong combination and widely used in aerospace, marine, electronic and biomedical engineering.

Three, CF/PEEK implant bone plate As a substitute for metal aluminum, titanium and other materials, CF/PEEK thermoplastic composite materials have unparalleled advantages such as low specific gravity, high temperature resistance, resistance to wet and hot hydrolysis, good dimensional stability, fatigue resistance, X-ray transparency, and biocompatibility, becoming a material to replace metal bone plates.
Four, PEI thermoplastic composite honeycomb sandwich panel Honeycomb sandwich structure is a special composite laminate, usually composed of panels, adhesives and honeycomb cores, with light weight, high specific strength, good buffering and vibration isolation performance, good thermal insulation performance, good sound insulation, high designability of thermal expansion coefficient, etc., and is widely used. For example, it is used for civil aircraft sound insulation.

High-performance thermoplastic composite thick plate High-performance resin-based thermoplastic composite materials have the properties of low specific gravity, high temperature resistance, moisture and heat resistance, impact resistance, and good dimensional stability. They are one of the choices to replace metal materials in the fields of aerospace, medical treatment, and transportation. Thermoplastic composite plates include fabric plates, unidirectional plates, and random unidirectional plates. The matrix resins include PEEK, PEKK, PPS, PEI, etc.
Composite three-dimensional woven thick plates Compared with laminated composite plates, the interlayer strength of composite three-dimensional woven thick plates has been greatly improved, which broadens the scope of use of the plates.
VI. Aerospace related products Thermoplastic composite materials are widely used in the aerospace field due to their excellent properties such as low specific gravity, high temperature resistance, moisture and heat resistance, impact resistance, and good dimensional stability, such as aircraft connection angle brackets, fuselage wall panels (ribs, girders, skins), floor beams and other fuselage parts and connecting parts.

Thermoplastic composite winding tube products Junhua displayed CF/PEEK winding tubes. An engine model was displayed at the JEC exhibition. The outer sheath was a thermoplastic composite winding tube, and the blades, tail cones and other parts were all formed of composite materials.
1. CF composite bent tube 2. CF composite box tube 3. CF/PEEK winding tube Similar to the motor rotor bushing structure, the specific advantages are: 1. Lightweight and ultra-high strength help to achieve lightweight design; 2. Tolerant to the chemical medium environment in the motor; 3. Excellent fatigue resistance.
4. PEKK, PPS and other high-performance composite winding tubes 8. High-performance thermoplastic unidirectional prepreg braided tube 9. High-performance thermoplastic composite inlay injection molding products Inlay injection molding, products formed in this way use composite materials at the main stress position to ensure sufficient strength, and use short-cut fiber reinforced particles for injection molding at the secondary stress position and the position that is not easy to process. This can reduce the material cost of the product and reduce the difficulty of processing while meeting the strength requirements.
10. CCM continuous hot pressing molding of thermoplastic prepreg CCM continuous hot pressing molding is a special process in the composite material molding process. The impregnated high-performance resin-based fabrics such as PEEK, PEKK, PPS, PEI, and unidirectional thermoplastic prepreg are formed through compression molds under the action of traction, and the profile products are compressed continuously in an intermittent manner. This process is suitable for the production of flat plates and profiles of various cross-sectional shapes, such as I-shaped, angle-shaped, groove-shaped, special-shaped cross-sectional pipes and combined cross-sectional profiles composed of the above cross-sectional shapes.
11. High-performance thermoplastic composite welding connection process Thermoplastic materials are suitable for welding because of their characteristics of melting when heated and changing shape when pressurized. A study by Boeing found that the labor cost required for welding composite wing structures is 61% less than that of using threaded fasteners. The current main research hotspots are laser welding, induction welding, and ultrasonic welding. The welding connection of thermoplastic composite flat plates with composite flat plates, metals and other plastic materials is a key step before product connection.
